CVS: Spent $40.45/Saved: $24.20

So this wasn't such a great week at CVS except that I will get reimbursed for the full $40.45 from my flexible health spending.  I needed a week to regroup and get more EB to work with for future purchases.  I also used SavingsAngel for the first time (will have a review on the other blog soon). Here's what I got:

2 Prilosec 42 Count $24.99each (saved $3.50 each)
(Plus $7/2 coupon ~ received $7EB for each)
2 Colgate Total Advanced $2.99each (saved $.70 each)
(Plus 2 $1/1 coupons ~ received $2.99EB for each)

PLUS: $1, $1.80, $4EB

Total OOP: $40.45
Total Savings: $24.20 (Sale and Coupon and EB)
EB Earned: $14, $5.98 and $1 (for green bag tag)

Total CVS spending YTD: $203.06
Total CVS savings YTD: $880.35

CVS: Saved: $34.01/Spent: .35

2 Peanut M&Ms (yes, I know there is only one pictured... I got hungry!) $.50each (saved $.39each)
2 Rightguard Deodorants $2.29 each (saved $1.40 each)
(used $3/2 coupon ~ received $4EB)
1 Schick Hydro Shave Cream $2.27 (saved $1.50)
(used $1/1 coupon ~ received $1.80EB)
1 Cetaphil Lotion $9.89
(used $1/1 coupon)
1 Cetaphil Lotion $4.94 (BOGO 50%)
(used $1/1 coupon)
PLUS: $4.99, $9.99, $3EB

Total OOP: $.35
Total Savings: $34.01 (Sale and Coupon and EB)
EB Earned: $4, $1.80
Bolded: to be donated

Total CVS spending YTD: $162.61
Total CVS savings YTD: $856.15
Summer 2010 Spending (from receipt): $58.43
YTD Saving (from receipt): $899.47

I thought I had calculated it right, but I had to throw in those M&Ms as filler purchases. I should've just had her take off that last $3EB and give it back to me and pay a little more OOP rather than spend $1 on something I don't need and really shouldn't be buying. Lesson learned.

After going to 2 CVS stores, I finally went to one downtown that had (almost) everything I wanted. They didn't have the freebie candy corn, but I probably shouldn't have so much concentrated sugar anyways...

The woman at the register was kind of lame. She wasn't going to let me use an internet printable and then she wasn't going to let me use 2 EB in one transaction. I've never heard of that one before. Luckily she was easily persuaded and I remained calm the entire time.

Also, sidenote: my ExtraCare card just offed itself due to (what I can only asuume is) excessive overuse. It fell from my keychain and the layer of plastic is peeling off. I called CVS to request a new one which should arrive in a few weeks (hopefully with coupons! *crosses fingers*)

CVS: OOP $2.55/Saved $32.57

Back in the game. It has been awhile for a combination of reasons: feeling a little lazy, no real need for items, no deals that spoke to me... But my EB were about to run out and there were a few good deals this week. Here it is...

Total CVS savings YTD: $700.72

CVS: OOP $14.34/Saved $27.99

I realized something the other day that is tough for my flex spending account. I can't get reimbursed for items if I pay for them using EB. Lame. But fair, I suppose. So this week's OOP cost is higher than it probably should've been, but I will get reimbursed. Here's what I got.

Even though it wasn't the best deal ever to get the $15 of cards for just $3EB, I have 2 weddings, father's day and my sister's birthday coming up. It was timely... Overall, not too shabby. I used the last $1.94 of my gift card. So really, it was just $.62 OOP... I'm ruling at the CVS game!

Glad I waited until later in the week to go shopping because CVS emailed me a coupon on Tuesday or Wednesday. Monday is when I usually do my shopping.

Roar! I just realized that they didn't scan my $3/2 Rightguard deodorant coupon. Also, I am so glad I read the comments on the blogs I use to do my deal matching. Like some of the readers reported, only $5EB printed on the Bayer instead of $15EB. I knew to check that particular deal extra which could've cost me $10! I also got my $1 for the Green Bag Tag. Good shopping day at CVS!

*I was really stupid and meant to buy the Thermacare heatwrap for $2.49 with $2.49EB instead of the CVS brand one. I didn't look carefully at the display and grabbed the wrong one. Totally my fault and I feel stupid for doing this! Word to the wise... be more careful in checking products vs. circulars and coupons.

The helpful people at the store told me to call the CVS hotline and they apparently "reset" my quarterly EB. I should be getting them the next time I stop at CVS *crosses fingers*.
