Freebies Requested

(1) Freezer Bag (arrives in 4 weeks)
I debated requesting this one, but I love grocery-type bags. It will be nice to have an insulated bag for summer grocery shopping.
(2) Playtex Tampons (arrives in 4-6 weeks)

For the record, I only request free items that I (1) want to try (2) know I will use. Everything else is clutter and I don't like clutter!

CVS: OOP $.37/Savings $39.75

I did better this time and remembered my bag tag and double extra bucks coupon that forgot last time. However, I'm having some issues with EB printing properly. Last week the $10 EB for the Pepsi deal didn't print even though I made sure it added up to more than $20 (before coupons). I talked to the manager and she printed it. This week the Revlon deal caused some issues (more on this below).

2 dove deodorants $3.50 each (saved $1.29 each)
(plus 2 $2 coupons ~ received $2 EB)
1 Gatorade $1.25 (saved .44)
1 Almay Eye Shadow $5.99 (saved $2.00)
(plus $1/1 coupon ~ received $4 EB)
1 Revlon nail polish $1.25 (saved $3.74)
(plus $1 coupon)
1 Revlon lipstick $5 (saved 2.99)
(plus $1 coupon)
1 Revlon eyeliner $7.49
(plus $1 coupon ~ received $7 EB for $15 in Revlon products)
PLUS
$5/$25 purchase coupon from last receipt
$10 EB from last time
$5 EB from survey I was emailed

Total OOP: $.37 (entire thing was tax)
Total Savings: $39.75 (Sale and Coupon and ECB)
ECB Earned: $2, $4, $7 (see above)
Bolded Items: to be donated (none this week)

Total CVS spending YTD: $17.32
Total CVS savings YTD: $108.18
Winter 2010 spending (according to CVS Receipt): $51.55 (where does this number come from?)
So the problem with the Revlon deal is that the nail polish rang up for $1.25 even though it was labeled $4.99 on the shelf. I have no idea why it rang up as that and I told the cashier this. It was clearly labeled at $4.99. They finally printed out the EB for me. I feel kind of bad about it now, but the whole thing took so long that I wound up late to meet a friend. I just wanted to get out of there. I need to avoid that CVS location for a little while... The cashier was not amused.

Free Samples Requested

(1) Kashi (arrives in 4-6 weeks) and they always come with a great coupon.
(2) Popchips (not available anymore)
(3) Kotex (arrives in 4-6 weeks)

Harris Teeter: 2 Trips/ OOP $5.19/Savings $10.37/ OOP $9.13/Savings $14.95

I made two trips to Harris Teeter for their Super Doubles (where they double coupons up to $1.98). That's not because I met the daily max of 20 coupons, but because I suck at planning. Oops.

Here's Trip 1:

3 Rice-a-Roni $1.79ea (Saved .79ea)
($1/3 coupon doubled)
Riceworks $3.39
($1 coupon doubled)
Wholly Guac $3.99
($1 coupon doubled)

Here's Trip 2:

Bear Naked Granola $5.19
($1 coupon doubled)
2 Kotex liners 22 count $1.59ea
(1.50/2 coupon doubled)
Kotex liners 64 count $3.45 (Saved .50)
($1 coupon doubled)
Danactive $2.50
($1 coupon doubled)
Activa $2.50
($1 coupon doubled)
Chobani Greek Yogurt $1.45
($1 coupon doubled to FREE)
Mission Tortilla $3.79
($1 coupon doubled)
Vaseline $1.49

Total OOP: $9.13 (including tax)
Total Savings: $14.95 (Sale and Coupon)

My thoughts on Super Doubles: It was okay. I went late so a few of the things I wanted to get were no longer in stock. I messed up a few of the deals I wanted, but it worked out okay in the end. I was hoping to get the guac for free, but they didn't have any of the kind I wanted left. I thought that the overage for the Greek yogurt wouldn't disappear. I am trying a few things I've wanted to buy but thought were a little too expensive. Overall, I saved more than I spent, so I think it's a win.

Total HT spending YTD: $14.32
Total HT savings YTD: $25.32

Welcome to Me in Deals!

I created this as an offshoot of my other blog, Me in Millions, because I didn't think my readers would care to see a record of the deals I've gotten this year. One of my goals way to play the CVS game and to see how much stuff I could get for free. This blog will be a record of that and other deals I find this year. It's mostly for me, but I hope you'll enjoy.

I plan to donate a large amount of what I get for free. I'm mostly going to be shopping (and keeping a record of my deals) at the following stores:

(1) CVS
(2) Giant
(3) Shopper's
(4) Harris Teeter
(5) Safeway
(6) Target
(7) Rite Aid

I also am going to use this blog to keep track of stuff I get for free this year in general. This will include things such as samples in the mail, events that I go to for free or reduced cost. Welcome!
